After a dramatic Sprint victory, reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez will be looking to complete a dream home double by claiming a first grand prix victory of the season on Sunday at Jerez.

Marc Marquez will again start from pole position, his first of the season, after winning a wet qualifying duel with LCR Honda's Johann Zarco on Saturday morning.

Fabio di Giannantonio couldn’t extend his pole run to three in a row but still put his VR46 machine on the outside of the front row in third.

di Giannantonio was catching the race-leading Marquez brothers in the Sprint when rain began pouring down and eventually finished fifth.

Alex Marquez crashed out on slicks in the rain, while the world championship top three of Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta all failed to score in the Sprint.

Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez and Acosta will again form row two of Sunday's grid, but Martin has a three-place penalty after riding slowly on the racing line and disturbing Alex Marquez at the end of Friday practice.

That will move Marquez's team-mate and Sprint runner-up Pecco Bagnaia from tenth on the grid to the outside of row three.

Honda's Joan Mir will be forced to serve a double long lap penalty in the grand prix for 'not respecting' black-and-orange flags in final practice.

Meanwhile, Franco Morbidelli will sit out the opening five minutes of opening MotoGP practice at Le Mans later this month - and has been fined 1,000 euros - for not pulling off track as soon as he saw smoke emitting from his VR46 Ducati in qualifying.

Toprak Razgatlioglu was then handed a long lap penalty for Sunday’s Spanish MotoGP after being judged to have caused a crash with Lorenzo Savadori in the Sprint.

Wild-card Augusto Fernandez starts as the leading Yamaha rider, in 16th.

Tech3’s Maverick Vinales is absent after undergoing shoulder surgery and has not been replaced.

However, Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez and Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori are making their first wild-card appearances of the season this weekend.

The 25-lap Spanish MotoGP starts at 3pm local time on Sunday (2pm UK).
