These pictures show Pol Espargaro's fiery accident in Saturday morning practice for the Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang.

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider was launched from his bike at turn one after oil leaked onto his rear wheel, caused by a small piece of glass debris damaging an oil radiator.

Other riders had tried to warn Espargaro, but the intermittent smoke meant he didn't spot the damage.

Espargaro broke the second metatarsal bone in his left foot and was ruled out of qualifying, but intends to return for Sunday's race.

"The bike was letting a small [amount of] oil on to the wheel but I didn't see it so I continued pushing - and it had the same power and everything - but at the end of the straight but when I braked some oil was starting to come onto the wheel," Espargaro said.

"We'll have to forget [the injury] because tomorrow we have a race. Changing gear will be really difficult with the pain, but we'll see tomorrow what happens."
