Day of Champions to mix action with auction.

The 11th Day of Champions, to be held at Donington Park on Thursday July 10th, looks set to be one of the most eagerly anticipated ever - with the proven mix of day long action followed by an auction of one-off motorsport prizes set to reach new heights in 2003.

All profits from the event, held the day before the British Motorcycle Grand Prix weekend, go to motorcycling's official charity, Riders for Health. To help draw in even greater crowds this year a whole host of stars have once again pledged their support - and even participation.

One such person is triple 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts (pictured with Randy Mamola), Owner of the Proton KR team, who will take part in a demonstration race in a 600cc rally kart against a surprise car star!

The kart, designed and built by ex-Mitsubishi and Ford World Rally chief engineer Marc Amblard, is part of the four-wheeled arsenal of Bill Gwynne Rally School. Gwynne will auction a chance to experience the Donington circuit in a World Rally car that evening.

Meanwhile, M&R promotions will be wowing the crowds as they take motorcycle acrobatics to the extreme. The team features some of the best stunt riders in the UK, including ex-stunt world champion Kevin Carmichael and Canadian Jumpin' Jake Semtex.

During the course of the day Riders for Health will be auctioning rides with motorcycling legend Randy Mamola on the spectacular Ducati Desmosedici two-seater.

This unique opportunity is exclusive to Day of Champions with bidding starting at ?1000 - offers can now be submitted via email to rfh@riders.org .

In 2002, top MotoGP racers including Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi helped raise an incredible ?50,000 for Riders for Health at the Day of Champions auction, and this year prizes up for grabs include: two paddock passes donated by the Suzuki MotoGP team, lunch in the Suzuki hospitality suite, a tour of the pit-box, a tour of the IRTA office and a lap of the Donington circuit in the safety car with ex-500cc world champion and track official Franco Uncini.

Another truly unique and highly collectable lot sure to cause a bidding frenzy between memorabilia collectors will be the helmet, leathers, gloves and boots worn by 1990 250cc and 1997 World Superbike champion John Kocinski.

The prototype Shoei helmet worn by 'Little John', was - and is - one of a kind. It is painted with the famous eagle design based on that of his mentor Kenny Roberts. The Dainese leathers and Alpine Stars gloves and boots are from the period in John's career when he was in the Roberts's 500cc GP team.

Admission to the Day of Champions is just ?10.00 with concessions.
