Team Suzuki's John Hopkins is a question mar for the rest of the German Grand Prix weekend after suffered a heavy, fourth gear, highside during this afternoon's second practice session at Sachsenring.

Hopper had been sixth fastest in the morning session and was ninth, within half a second of the top, when he lost control of his GSV-R in the final ten-minutes of FP2.

The Anglo-American is currently undergoing medical checks to determine if he is fit to rid for the rest of the weekend. The 22-year-old had been stretchered away from the accident, but was soon back on his feet.

"The biggest concern for tomorrow is John's condition," confirmed team manager Paul Denning. "He suffered a fourth gear high-side towards the end of FP2. He seemed fairly unfazed by it, but chipped teeth and potential injuries to hand, foot and ribs are of course a concern.

"We are all keeping our fingers crossed that he is fit enough to race and race hard. I believe that if it's physically possible to ride the bike, John will be on it tomorrow," he added.

Meanwhile, team-mate Kenny Roberts - second last time out in the wet at Donington - completed day one in ninth, 0.574secs from fastest man Alex Barros.

"Bridgestone has a new tyre here that has a little bit less cornering grip but a bit more acceleration grip, and I feel that it is better for me - so we used that most of the day," said Kenny. "There was no point in going for one single lap time at the end as basically that isn't going to matter. They say the weather is changing and it looks like it's going to be raining. Let's wait and see!"
