European Formula 3 podium finisher Joey Mawson will graduate to GP3 for the 2018 season with Arden International.

Mawson moves up to the Formula 1-supporting category after finishing 13th in the 2017 European F3 standings during his first full campaign in international-level F3.

The Australian claimed a best finish of third place in the first race at the Nurburgring last season with Van Amersfoort Racing, the same team he won the ADAC Formula 4 Championship with in 2016.

“I’m very excited to be joining Arden International for the 2018 GP3 season, to be able to race on the same schedule as Formula 1 is something that I’m thoroughly looking forward to,” Mawson said.

“I’m focused on putting everything that I learnt into practice to assist me in gaining more success in 2018.”

Mawson joins Gabriel Aubry and Julien Falchero in Arden’s GP3 line-up for the upcoming campaign. The British squad begins its preparations for the 2018 season with pre-season testing which gets underway at Le Castellet this week.

“It’s great news that Joey has joined Arden GP3 for the 2018 season” Arden’s GP3 team manager Richard Dent added. “This is a fantastic addition to the team this year and his career results have been impressive.”
