Sheffield Tigers have completed the signing of Andre Compton in a new two-year deal. Compton, who ended 2003 on the injured list, will have surgery to repair metalwork in his foot before Christmas and insists he will be fit for the start of next season.

He said: "Moving back to Sheffield this year was always a sign of me making a commitment to stay here and then the club bought my contract in full from Newcastle. "I always felt like it was the place where I wanted to continue racing and a two-year deal seemed the logical thing because it means both the club and myself know where we stand."

Compton's signature means that the Tigers are almost half way to a complete septet for the 2004 season as the club already have the services of the inspirational Sean Wilson and the highly promising Ricky Ashworth on similar two year contracts.
