Impressive early season team Poole Pirates have been rocked with the news that Norwegian heat leader Lars Gunnestad could be out for a couple of months.

Gunnestad sustained a broken leg after crashing during a Polish League meeting in Opole on Saturday night.

Early reports had suggested that Sean Wilson tangled with Gunnestad, however Wilson later stated that this was simply mistaken identity and that he had been "in no way involved."

Gunnestad's injury is a big blow for Poole, who had made many sit up and take notice with their performances so far this season. The Norwegian himslef had put in some high scoring performances, and he will be missed.

Poole co-promoter Mike Golding said: "We can only hope that Lars will make a speedy recovery. In the meantime, we shall be searching high and low for a suitable replacement."
