The unlucky Barry Campbell is in hospital with various broken bones and internal injuries after a high speed crash during Workington's Good Friday home meeting with Stoke.

Campbell suffered a broken neck early last season and had only recently made his comeback from that and now he faces another long spell out of action.

The club are currently making use of the rider replacement facility to cover Campbell's absence. That stood them in good stead at Stoke on Saturday night with free scoring reserve Rusty Harrison racing to fourteen points in Workington's 37-35 victory.

Add to that a crushing home victory over Berwick on Monday night and the Comets have a clear lead at the top of the Premier Trophy (Northern) group.
