Wimbledon Speedway have made their second signing for the forthcoming 2002 season with the capture of Simon Moon, on loan from parent club Reading.

21 year old Moon has spent the last three seasons riding for Rye House and is delighted to be joining the illustrious Wimbledon Dons.

He said: "Wimbledon are one of the most famous names in the sport, and I look forward to being part of a winning team next season."

Co-promoter Steve Ribbons, who announced the signing at last week's supporters club function, said: "Simon will be a tremendous asset to the Dons. He is an intelligent, articulate lad who rides with his head, and will bring some solidity to our middle order."

Moon has a career average of around six points per meeting, and will be looking to realise his full potential this coming season.

Meanwhile last weeks Dons' Supporters Club evening at Plough Lane was attended by almost 300 supporters and far exceeded management expectations.

Co-promoter Steve Ribbons enthused: "We were taken aback by the level of support on the night, and are delighted that the fans are fully behind our decision to resurrect the Dons."

Consequently, membership of the WSSC now stands above 200, and fundraising activities are already underway.
