Australian signs for the Hammers.

Australian, Lee Herne, has become the fifth rider to sign for the Kent Sweepers sponsored Arena-Essex Hammers Speedway team for the 2002 season.

Herne, who spent part of last season riding for the Essex based team, is at present back home in his native Australia was delighted to have received a telephone call from Arena-Essex Promoter Colin Brine. He gave his immediate positive response when offered a place in the team and is very enthusiastic over his return to the Club he finished the 2001 season with.

Herne now joins Kelvin Tatum, Leigh Lanham, Colin White and Shaun Tacey as confirmed starters for the forthcoming season and there are now only two further team places to be filled.
