Wimbledon 'extremely satisfied'.

The management of Wimbledon Speedway have pronounced themselves "extremely satisfied" with the outcome of last weeks' meeting of Conference League Promoters.

Dons supporters can look forward to at least sixteen official meetings at Plough Lane this coming season. In addition the Dons have been awarded the southern semi-final of the Conference League Riders Championship.

Commenting on the news, co-promoters David Croucher and Steve Ribbons said " We are delighted with the outcome of last weeks' Conference League meeting and would like to thank League Co-ordinator Peter Morrish for his sterling efforts to satisfy all parties."

Although there are some ten weeks until the Plough Lane doors re-open, Dons supporters will get an early chance to see their heroes on track with fixtures planned at both Peterborough and Mildenhall.

Peterborough commence their Conference League season on Sunday 24th March against the Dons while the fixture at Mildenhall is planned for Sunday April 28th.

Co-promoter Steve Ribbons said "We are extremely honoured to be asked by such experienced promoters as Jim Lynch of Peterborough and Tony Mole of Mildenhall to open their respective seasons' ".

Wimbledon Speedway will be fully represented at the eagerly anticipated launch of the 2002 season this coming Sunday at the National Agricultural Centre near Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

The Dons management and a number of riders will be present to meet the press and supporters and answer all your questions.

The Dons promotion are appealing for volunteers to help prepare Wimbledon Stadium for speedway racing in readiness for the forthcoming season.
