Suspected broken leg for unlucky Loram.

A night of high drama at Oxford Stadium tonight as the Oxford Silver Machine battled hard to gain a vital win in their quest for an Elite League play off spot. The victory was overshadowed however by a nasty injury to Mark Loram who fell heavily in heat eleven and has been taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital with a suspected broken leg.

The two teams were locked together until a maximum heat win from Greg Hancock and Charlie Gjedde put Oxford in the driving seat. Although Oxford always looked good for the win the bonus point was to prove elusive after a double tactical substitution in heat fourteen bought the Eagles back level on aggregate. A run off had to be held in the end and this was won by Eastbourne's Nicki Pedersen.

Greg Hancock starred for Oxford with fourteen points and reserve Charlie Gjedde picked himself up for a frightening looking fall to score paid eleven.

Loram's fresh injury somewhat dampened Oxford's victory. The 2000 world champion had only returned from a long spell out of the saddle with a troublesome arm injury when racing in the Slovenian grand prix. No sooner is he back than he's out again and if a broken leg is confirmed, it will mean the end of Loram's season.
Scorers:
