Alex Lynn has been chosen by Toyota's LMP1 squad for the World Endurance Championship rookie test in Bahrain this month.

The former GP3 champion, who currently competes in GP2 alongside his commitments as a development driver for Williams in Formula 1, will test out the Toyota TS040 - Hybrid LMP1 challenger on Sunday 22 November, the day after the finale of the 2015 WEC championship at the same venue.

Lynn will be joined by fellow British driver Sam Bird testing for Toyota and with Alexander Wurz announcing his retirement from racing this week a driver slot at Toyota will become available at the Japanese squad in 2016.

Elsewhere, former F1 driver and 2015 Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will take part in the rookie test with Porsche's LMP1 squad alongside Mitch Evans, with Richie Stanaway rookie testing with Audi.

The test consists of five hours of track time split into two sessions. There will be one two-hour session in the morning from 10AM to 12PM local time and the second three-hour session will run from 1PM to 4PM local time.
