Henning forced out before Cyprus start

Henning Solberg has been forced to retire from the opening day of Rally Cyprus after an accident on his way to the first stage of the event.

The Stobart VK M-Sport driver was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the way to the 30.33km run through Panagia 1 with the damage sustained to the Focus WRC being too much for Solberg or co-driver Cato Menkerud to repair.

It remains to be seen whether or not the pair will be able to resume during SupeRally on Saturday.

"All we know for now is they seem to have run into the back of a Toyota pickup which indicated left but actually turned right into Henning's path," team boss Malcolm Wilson explained of the incident.
