Matthew Wilson and Henning Solberg's participation in to the 2012 World Rally Championship has been confirmed after the announcement that the pair will compete this season under the Go Fast Energy World Rally Team banner.

The pair had lodged their entries to the season opening Monte Carlo Rally under their own names as M-Sport worked to confirm a sponsorship deal after the end of the agreement with Stobart.

While the two Ford Fiesta WRCs appeared in a new Go Fast Energy livery for Tuesday's shakedown, confirmation that the pair would take part in the opening round of the year only came on Tuesday evening with the pair now confirmed for the full season.

"Go Fast Energy is extremely excited to team up with Henning Solberg, Matthew Wilson and M-Sport in the World Rally Championship," spokesman Karl Morris said. "Rallying is in many ways connected to our Go Fast motto: 'Get More Out of Life', where our drivers can test their ability in the most extreme driving conditions possible.

"Go Fast Energy aims to set up a long-lasting relationship with the WRC and we wish our drivers and dedicated team the best of luck for the 2012 season."

Both Solberg and Wilson go into the event with limited testing, and with the focus firmly on just securing a finish - especially as the event will run without Super Rally.

"It's great to be at the start of the Monte Carlo Rally again," Wilson said. "The event is iconic in the season, but the conditions are so mixed that the approach we'll take will be to use this rally as a high speed recce to get some good experience of the stages and then, should everything work-out, push from Sweden onwards. The most important thing here for us is to finish, especially with there being no Super Rally!"
