Shaina interviews… Galang Hendra!

12-year-old motorcycle racing fan Shaina Salvia interviews fellow Indonesian Galang Hendra Pratama, who took his first World Supersport 300 race win of the year - leading every lap from pole position on his Yamaha R3 - at Brno…

Shaina Salvia A. S.:

Congratulations on your win! What was it that made you so fast in that race?

Galang Hendra:

I don't know, maybe I'm lucky today! But from the start I tried to push hard in the first and second laps and I made a big three-second gap to the other riders. So finally, I can get this first position!

I also want to say hello and thank-you to all my Indonesian fans.

Shaina Salvia A. S.:

Did the change in regulations help your bike? (New combined rider and bike minimum weight of 205kg for Yamaha, 208kg for KTM, 215kg for Honda and Kawasaki)

Galang Hendra:

I think it was not so different in the end, the regulations. Because yes Carrasco is 8kg more but some of the other riders are now 8kg less, for example.

For me, as a rider, the most important thing now is to keep focused, never give up and try to learn all the tracks.

Shaina Salvia A. S.:

What do you expect for the next race?

Galang Hendra:

For Misano I will try to keep focus and do my best because Misano is my favourite track, there are many slow corners and maybe it will be a good track for Yamaha.

Shaina Salvia A. S.:

What is your target for this season?

Galang Hendra:

My first target was the world championship, but after we saw the unfair regulations at the start of the season it was difficult for Yamaha. Now I hope to stay on the podium at every round.

Shaina Salvia A. S.:

Do you have any plans for the holidays?

Galang Hendra:

When I return to Indonesia, I want to eat Gudeg! (Special food from Yogyakarta). Because I'm from Yogyakarta, so I miss Gudeg a lot. Sometimes I look for Gudeg [in Europe] but they don't have it!
