'Expanded' 2007 WSBK calendar announced.

The FIM has used its 2006 Congress, held at Salvador de Bahia in Brazil, to announce the 2007 World Superbike calendar - although mystery still surrounds some of the intended 15 rounds.

Ten of the current 12 rounds are scheduled to return next season, but the popular and picturesque Imola round has been removed and replaced by Vallelunga, near Max Biaggi's home city of Rome, while another Italian based event, the San Marino round at Misano, is still to announce its race location.

Meanwhile, three new events have been penciled in, but the identity of the countries concerned is not listed.

It is assumed that the 'to be announced' season finale is intended to be in South Africa, as had been initially planned this season, while it is known that WSBK is keen to return to North America after losing its popular Laguna Seca round to MotoGP two seasons ago. Should Alex Barros stay for a second season in WSBK, a new Brazilian round could also be possible.

The 2007 season will again start at Qatar, on February 24.
