WSS: Holland out, Laverty in at Echo

Russell Holland has confirmed he has terminated his contract with the Echo CRS Honda team following a difficult first half of the 2009 World Supersport season.

The Australian, who competed in 14 races of the World Superbike Championship with DFX Honda before joining Althea Honda in the Supersport series last season, has endured a torrid 2009 thus far, failing to score in the opening seven rounds.

He has subsequently taken the decision to join former team-mate Fabrizio Lai in leaving the Echo CRS Honda team.

"Its disappointing for me to have this happen after such a disastrous start to the season. I was especially looking forward to riding this weekend because the team have bought a competitive machine which I was looking forward to showing my capability on. I live for racing and intend to stay in Europe and search for a new opportunity."

Holland's place in the team has been assumed by Michael Laverty, who joins his third team in three races having previously competed for Veidec Honda and Holiday Gym Yamaha.
