Jonathan Rea moved to the top of the timesheets as rain descended on the Portimao circuit for the second day of World Superbike pre-season testing.

With lap times around thirteen seconds adrift of what was being achieved yesterday, not every rider ventured onto track, with both Ducati Xerox riders, Shane Byrne and Max Biaggi opting to stay in the pit lane.

Of those that did head out onto track, mileage was kept to a relative minimum, with Kawasaki's Chris Vermeulen flexing his wet weather credentials by featuring on top for a lengthy time.

However, by the chequered flag, Rea and Friday pace setter Leon Haslam had leapfrogged him and pushed the Australian down to third.

Once again, there was a British theme to the top positions, with Cal Crutchlow fourth and Leon Camier sixth, the pair being separated by Suzuki's Sylvain Guintoli.

Carlos Checa, Troy Corser and Max Neukirchner - who was able to complete a sizeable amount of laps on the Ten Kate Honda as he continues to regain his confidence - and Tom Sykes rounded out the top ten.
