Team Hero EBR is set to race in the fourth round of the 2015 World Superbike Championship at Assen despite the manufacturer filing for bankruptcy.

Erik Buell Racing entered the series as a factory team at the start of the 2014 season, becoming the first American manufacturer to do so, but while it endured a tough maiden year, changes over the winter have seen it emerge as a point-scoring contender in 2015 with Niccolo Canepa and Larry Pegram.

However, the Milwaukee-based company - which emerged in the wake of the closing of Buell Motorcycle in 2009 - says it has run out of funding to continue producing road bikes, despite personal investment from eponymous owner Erik Buell and Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero.

Nonetheless, a source told Crash.net that the World Superbike team remains unaffected for the time being and will be racing at Assen this weekend as planned.

Going forward, as the team is funded by Hero and the 1190RX bikes have been homologated, it could well continue to race in 2015 even if the manufacturer does indeed shut its doors for good.
