Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes have revealed Kawasaki’s 2020 World Superbike colours as the team looks to defend its world titles.

Reigning champion Rea is targeting an unprecedented sixth consecutive World Superbike riders’ crown this season after successfully seeing off the challenge from Ducati with its new V4 R Panigale. After Alvaro Bautista claimed 14 wins from the opening 19 races to Rea’s four in the same stretch he fought back with Kawasaki to storm to a fifth consecutive clean sweep of world titles in the riders’, teams’ and manufacturers’ championship.

Rea is joined by Lowes inside the KRT squad this year, as he replaced Honda-bound Leon Haslam, with the British rider getting to grips with the ZX-10RR this winter following four consecutive years competing for the factory Yamaha squad in WorldSBK.

Kawasaki has retained its traditional green and black colour scheme while incorporating a new honeycomb paint design and gold lettering. KRT revealed its 2020 livery in a presentation near its European headquarters in Barcelona with Rea, Lowes and key Kawasaki staff in attendance.

After the launch the team heads to Australia for the opening round of the 2020 World Superbike championship. Phillip Island hosts the traditional final pre-season test on February 24-25 before the first round at the same circuit on February 28-March 1.

Kawasaki becomes the second factory team to officially unveil its 2020 colours following Yamaha. Ducati presents its new-look squad of British Superbike champion Scott Redding and Chaz Davies next week on February 12.

Honda launches its new World Superbike team and the CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade with Haslam and Bautista on February 21 in Tokyo.
