Davies hoping for ‘solid weekend’, missed Misano pre-season test due to Covid

Chaz Davies was the only Ducati rider not to test at Misano earlier this year as he was sidelined by Covid-19, but nonetheless, the GoEleven Ducati rider is aiming to achieve ‘the best result possible’, at the team’s home WorldSBK race.

Chaz Davies brings a valuable haul of points into this weekend’s third round of the 2021 WorldSBK championship, after battling his way to second place in Estoril.

Davies bounced back from an unfortunate Saturday in Portugal which saw him having to abandon his one and only qualifying attempt due to yellow flags - starting position of 15th - to claim second place during the final race of the weekend.

Preparations for the Misano weekend; a race that was cancelled last year, haven’t exactly been ideal for Davies as he missed Ducati’s scheduled pre-season test in March after contracting Covid-19.

But still, Davies remains full of momentum given his race two performance last time out, which saw him come from ninth on the grid to finish second behind Jonathan Rea.

"We come here with the good result of Estoril, so we have a good feeling in the garage and a good momentum to take us forward,” said Davies on the eve of FP1.

"It's an important weekend because it's the home race for Go Eleven, so it's important to try and bring home the best result possible.

"In Misano we didn't race last year, and I didn't do the tests due to Covid, so I feel like I haven't been here for a little while, but it's a circuit on which I had reasonable successes in the past and I really enjoy the layout.

"The surface, probably, now has more grip than the last years, and that's something I am interested to try and to feel the new solutions that Pirelli brought here. We hope to have a solid weekend!"
