Lanzi wins 2005 World Superbike finale.
Lorenzo Lanzi took victory in the final race of the Corona Extra World Superbike championship at Magny Cours. He reeled in Vermeulen and was then gifted the win when Vermeulen was forced to retire, from the lead, when his chain came off on the eighteenth lap.
Lanzi was pleased with his result: "Today was very important and I am happy for having the F05 bike. I'm not so happy that the win was a little easy," said the young Italian. "Chris had a softer front tyre than me and I have medium tyre, so it would have been better for me on the final lap."

When asked about next season he simply said: "Is possible Ducait, I hope so!"
Second and third on the podium went to Yukio Kagayama on his Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki with his friend Noriyuki Haga on the Yamaha Italia machine chasing him home.
The Japanese pair fought hard all race in their usual wild style, they actually were comparing their crazy riding after the race. Haga said: "I am happy for the result after crash in first race. I have big fight with Yukio, I think crazy riding is also him, I can't judge who is crazy!"
Kagayama responded with "He teach me crazy, I am student of crazy riding!" he joked. "I am happy to be on the podium, thank you to everyone. This is for the future and for next year," concluded Kagayama.
New World Champ Troy Corser fought his way forward to fourth place but the podium escaped him once again. Chris Walker and James Toseland had a superb battle for fifth and sixth positions, with Walker pipping his friend Toseland.
The race was red flagged on the first lap when Muggeridge and Pitt collided; they were then followed into the gravel by Bussei, Martin and Da Costa. Muggeridge, Bussei and Martin failed to take part in the restart, with Muggeridge and Bussei being taken to hospital for a check up - neither are thought to be seriously hurt.
