Gino Rea has joined Team Go Eleven Kawasaki for the 2017 World Supersport championship after just one season with GRT MV Agusta.

The British rider has produced mixed fortunes on his maiden campaign on the MV Agusta with three podium results punctuated by four retirements, while he was forced to miss the final two rounds due to injury which saw him slip to seventh in the World Supersport riders' championship.

The 2009 European Superstock 600 champion, who returned to World Supersport in 2015 after a difficult three years in Moto2, is confident of a competitive package with the Kawasaki ZX-6R next year to be a contender for the World Supersport title.

"I am extremely excited to join Team Go Eleven Kawasaki for 2017. I followed their progress and I think we can achieve great things together," Rea said. "My 2016 season is over and although it was a bit unlucky, I still achieved three podiums and two front row starts. I want to continue like this in 2017 and finish much higher in the Championship.

"I am very happy to ride a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, it's a good motorcycle and I am sure that Team Go Eleven will provide me with a competitive World Supersport. I know I can fight for the win and I want to be able to fight for the world title.

"I would like to thank Gianni Ramello, Luciana Fornaseri and Denis Sacchetti for believing in me and giving me this exciting opportunity. Also big thanks to my sponsors Jap4Performance and Passerini Performance for their support."
