Alex Lowes says he has 'nothing to lose' heading into the final round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch having manoeuvred himself into surprise title contention with just three races remaining.

The WFR Honda rider was the last of six riders to secure his spot in the 'Title Showdown' and even then it took a strong turn at Cadwell Park and Donington Park to lift himself into the reckoning.

However, Lowes has hit form at the crucial time, scoring a pair of podiums at Assen before claiming a brace of wins at Silverstone, the first of his burgeoning BSB career.

Though his lack of pre-Showdown podium credits means he remains 24 points adrift of Shane Byrne heading into the triple-header, Lowes is quietly confident that he can seize the initiative from his better fancied rivals when the pressure mounts.

"I think that nobody expected me to be winning the championship this season and because of that I have been able to enjoy it and take each race as it comes," he said. "All six of us want to win as much as each other and it comes down to these races so we will put everything out there.

"I need to ride like I have been at the last few rounds and then that might give me the chance to move up the order or even be British champion. I have nothing to lose so I want to go out and have a good fight with the boys for the wins."
