"Metzeler provided an all-round quality deliverance for the competitors in both the Superstock Championship and Cup - they were able to use cost effective tyres and had good back up at the races," said Tony Partis, managing director of Dorna UK - the championship promoters. "The level of competition in 2005 was tremendous, and with this continuing relationship, I feel Superstock racing will go from strength to strength."
The main points of the 2006 Metzeler tyre deal are as follows:
o A maximum of three sets of dry tyres may be used during the qualifying practices, warm-up and the race (no restriction during free practice).
o A fixed price for sets of tyres.
o In the event of changeable weather a product exchange system will operate to avoid unnecessary expense.
o Tyre distribution will be strictly controlled by Metzeler in conjunction with the series organisers using unique methods of identification.
A bonus scheme will again operate in both the National Superstock Championship and National Superstock Cup whereby at each race the winner will receive two front and two rear tyres; the second placed rider one front and two rear tyres while the third placed rider receives one front and one rear tyre.
Additionally at each event there will be a Metzeler Racetec Superstock Rider of the Day award chosen by the series commentator and a representative of Metzeler - the award will be a set of tyres.
"The 2005 season was tremendously successful for us," stated Carl Bushell, UK director of Metzeler Moto UK. "It gave us high visibility and promotion for our product in a very competitive on track environment. Importantly everyone was happy with the product they were using for the races - this promoted our tyres superbly and our support worked very well for us. Now we are promising the same commitment into 2006 and look forward to another fine season."
The Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship and Cup will be decided over 13 rounds during the 2006 season, beginning at Brands Hatch on Sunday 26 March.
