Haslam blazes to pole with fastest ever lap.

'Pocket Rocket' Leon Haslam smashed all previous lap records at Snetterton to take pole position for round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

The Airwaves Ducati rider Ha headed the entire session and had put in a sub 1min 5sec lap with thirty minutes to go. From that point on he just chipped away at his lap time reducing it steadily to take a very dominant pole position and his third for this season.

His team-mate Gregorio Lavilla will line up on the grid in second place giving Airwaves Ducati another one two. Lavilla had a small off on Friday during second free practice which put him behind in his race simulation but left him uninjured.

Ryuichi Kiyonari on the HM Plant Honda slipped into third place just ahead of Virgin Mobile Yamaha's Tommy Hill. This is Hill's first front row start this season in BSB; he did manage to steal pole when he ran as a wild card at Silverstone World Superbikes. Hill was in hospital earlier this week suffering from food poisoning and had only two days to get himself ready to race this weekend.

James Haydon on the Rizla Suzuki who is riding with an injured left shoulder put in a gritty performance to land his blue Suzuki onto the second row of the grid. His team-mate for this weekend, Jon Kirkham, who is replacing Shane Byrne following his high speed off, qualified in twelfth place.

Simon Andrews who is making his Superbike debut this weekend on the Jentin Yamaha managed a top ten in qualifying, finishing in ninth place. Initially the Jentin team were concerned that Andrews racing in supersport and superbike would be too much to deal with, however he appears to be thriving on the challenge.
