The top three riders during free practice one at Croft ahead of the tenth round of the Bennetts British Superbikes all lapped under the existing lap record of 1min 20.931secs.

Johnny Rea on his Red Bull Honda was the fastest man on track with a time of 1min 20.512secs. He has tested here quite a bit this season and feels this could be the track to give him that elusive win.

HM Plant Honda's Karl Harris was second fastest just 0.218secs off Rea's time, with third place taken up by Leon Haslam on the Airwaves Ducati.

Shane Byrne was the first of the Rizla Suzuki machines home, running in fourth place while his temporary team-mate Steve Plater was in thirteenth place. Plater is replacing James Haydon who is still recovering from his crash at Snetterton however he hopes to return to action at Cadwell Park.

Gregorio Lavilla, Haslam's team-mate was running in sixth place and will want to get the most out of this race weekend to try and get his title defence back on track. After two unlucky race meetings he has gone from leading the championship to running third. Ryuichi Kiyonari is now heading the championship charge and during free practice was in sixth place.

Tommy Hill, fresh from his World Superbike wild card ride was in seventh on his Virgin Mobile Yamaha, with Simon Andrews on the Jentin Yamaha in eighth, rounding out the top ten were Glen Richards and Michael Rutter.

Dean Thomas on the Hawk Kawasaki makes a welcome return to the BSB paddock having fully recovered from his broken ribs and punctured lung sustained when Haydon collided with him at Snetterton - he completed his first session in fourteenth place.
