Peter Hickman has produced a clean sweep of Friday practice for Smiths Racign BMW after Tarran Mackenzie had his best lap time deleted at Thruxton.

Mackenzie had posted the fastest classified time in FP2, a 1m 15.268s, to pull out almost two-tenths of a second on Hickman but reports indicated the Yamaha rider cut the final chicane while completing the lap. The lap was later deleted to see the Bennetts British Superbike champion demoted to 12th place on the FP2 times with Hickman taking top spot.

In the hot temperatures in FP2, Hickman was unable to better his morning time of 1m 15.385s but still did enough keep hold of top spot for Smiths Racing BMW and stay ahead of Glenn Irwin on the Be Wiser Ducati who led the early running of the session.

RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon claimed third place in FP2 ahead of BSB championship leader Leon Haslam on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki with the majority of the grid getting to grips with the harder compound tyres produced by Pirelli to deal with the abrasive nature of the Thruxton circuit over a race distance.

Tommy Bridewell has continued to impress on the Moto Rapido Ducati by taking fifth place ahead of Buildbase Suzuki’s Richard Cooper with team-mate Bradley Ray dropping down to 14th in the session despite having ended FP1 second fastest.

Jason O’Halloran maintained his encouraging start at Thruxton for Honda in seventh place as he continued to gather speed following his ankle injury as Christian Iddon (Tyco BMW), Andrew Irwin (Be Wiser Ducati) and Brands Hatch double winner Josh Brookes rounded out the top 10.
