Glenn Irwin has edged ahead of Leon Haslam in the final practice session at Silverstone in mixed conditions.

The final practice session was held on a damp track following early morning rain which curtailed any targets for outright quick laps compared to Friday’s running. Irwin’s 59.608s topped the session – six seconds off Ray’s top time from FP2 – one-tenth of a second ahead of Leon Haslam who is bouncing back from a nasty Friday morning high side crash.

Despite the quick times being unrepresentative, both riders who have already booked their BSB Showdown spots impressed with Haslam in second and RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon in third.

Showdown contender Jason O’Halloran grabbed fourth place for Honda ahead of Tyco BMW duo Christian Iddon and Michael Laverty with McAMS Yamaha’s Josh Brookes slotting into seventh following a difficult FP2 having missed the majority of the session with a technical issue.

Brookes’s McAMS Yamaha team-mate Tarran Mackenzie has continued to show promising pace as top BSB rookie in eighth place with Andrew Irwin (Be Wiser Ducati) and Richard Cooper (Buildbase Suzuki) rounding out the top 10.

Nearest challenger to the top six Danny Buchan ended the session in 11th for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki with both Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW) and Ray (Buildbase Suzuki) down in 18th and 19th respectively.
