Redding: BSB points lead means nothing
Scott Redding says his sole focus at Snetterton will be to pick up Podium Points with one eye already on the Showdown in the Bennetts British Superbike championship.
The Be Wiser Ducati rider claimed the BSB championship lead after winning race two at Knockhill last time out, heading up Tommy Bridewell by four points going to Snetterton this weekend, but given the BSB series format he knows the title lead can count for little without Podium Points.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider claimed the BSB championship lead after winning race two at Knockhill last time out, heading up Tommy Bridewell by four points going to Snetterton this weekend, but given the BSB series format he knows the title lead can count for little without Podium Points.
Redding also leads the current Podium Points tally, having picked up 25 points so far from four wins, one second place and two third places, with team-mate Josh Brookes his closest rival on 20 points.
The former MotoGP star is duly looking to increase his tally on his debut competitive outing at Snetterton to put himself in the strongest-possible position for the Showdown.
“It means nothing to be leading the series at this stage of the season, it’s all about picking up as many Podium Points as possible as that will be very important come the Showdown,” Redding said. “The plan as always is to challenge for the podium and if the win is possible, then I’ll go for it.
“I did a few laps on a road bike a few weeks ago and I like the track and the layout which should suit both me and the bike so I’m excited to get going this weekend.
“Hopefully, we can have some good weather and I can get some decent track time to help me get up to speed quickly.”
Four rounds, including Snetterton this weekend, are left to run before the BSB Showdown kicks in with the top six riders fighting for the title.
