New circuit, different challenges for Redding at Thruxton

Scott Redding is eager to carry his momentum from his double victory at Snetterton to Thruxton as he takes on another new track which he expects to have “unique challenges” regarding tyre life.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider extended his Bennetts British Superbike championship lead to 38 points last time out, while also opening up his Podium Points advantage to nine points on nearest rival Josh Brookes, as he moves closer to securing a top six Showdown spot.

With Redding’s rookie BSB campaign taking him to a number of new circuits, Thruxton poses his latest test and is already anticipating a tough task looking after his rear Pirelli tyre at a circuit known to be aggressive on tyre usage over a race distance.

“It’s my local track and I’m looking forward to racing at Thruxton. I’ve never raced there before, and it looks really fast so again I have to be on top of my game from the first session to learn what I need to,” Redding said.

“I know this circuit holds some unique challenges as I need to use my tyres sensibly and we need to ensure that we have a good set up for some of the fast corners.

“But after Snetterton, I’m feeling confident and there’s no reason we can’t do OK as we need as many Podium Points as possible from now on.”

Redding has claimed six wins from the last nine BSB races, while his Be Wiser Ducati squad has collectively secured 10 victories from the last 11 races overall.
