Victories the only goal for serial Thruxton winner Brookes

With eight wins at Thruxton across his Bennetts British Superbike championship career, Josh Brookes is eager to kick-start his title bid with more victories at the Hampshire circuit for Be Wiser Ducati.

The 2015 BSB champion heads to a happy hunting ground following a double podium last time out at Snetterton, a feat he says he wasn’t satisfied with, having lost out to championship leader and Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Scott Redding.

With a strong record at Thruxton to lean on, Brookes is solely focused on increasing his wins tally having last reached the top step this season with his dominant double victory at Brands Hatch in June.

“I always enjoy racing at Thruxton and over the years, I’ve had some great results there,” Brookes said.

“I don’t know if I like the place because I get good results, or I get good results because I like the place. It’s unique and you have to conserve your tyres so it’s all about managing your pace throughout the race.

“I should have been happy with a double podium at Snetterton but I’m not so the plan this weekend is to get two more wins under my belt to score some more important Podium Points as the Showdown is only a couple of rounds away after this weekend.”

Brookes trails Redding by nine Podium Points going into the Thruxton round, while he sits third in the overall BSB championship with a 41-point deficit to the ex-MotoGP rider.
