The second race of round eleven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park saw Leon Haslam on the Airwaves Ducati take his second race win of the season and extend his Championship lead.

His team-mate Gregorio Lavilla came home in second place with Johnny Rea on the Red Bull Honda in third place.

When the lights went out the first man away was Shane Byrne on the Rizla Suzuki with Lavilla, Haslam and Rea all chasing hard. Ryuichi Kiyonari had a bad start to his second race when he didn't manage to complete a lap due to crashing out at Barn corner. He tried to restart but was flagged due to a damaged rear brake and footrest.

Lavilla went for the lead at Park corner muscling his way past the blue Rizla Suzuki of Byrne. Karl Harris, now the lone HM Plant Honda circulating moved up to fourth place ahead of Rea. On lap five Byrne came over the mountain and landed all out of shape, his machine shaking violently as he landed. Harris was on a charge and broke the lap record on lap seven and on the same lap Byrne lost the front at Charlies and crashed out in a shower of sparks.

With Byrne out of the way the path was clear for Haslam to close up on Lavilla and on lap nine he put a move on his team-mate at Park corner and made it stick. It was at the same place last year that Haslam tried to pass Lavilla but unfortunately run both of them wide and onto the grass, gifting the win to Tommy Hill. Now that he was safely in front, Haslam got his head down and started to pull away.

'Bomber' Harris broke the lap record again on lap eleven with a time of 1min 27.725secs. Michael Rutter had a forgettable race day retiring from race two with technical problems. Lavilla ran wide at Park and allowed Harris to close up on him. He then had a huge moment at the mountain, landing with his Ducati all crossed up and bucking around, he was very lucky to save it - this allowed Harris to get even closer.

He finally made his move on lap sixteen at Park corner and slid under Lavilla firmly closing the door in his face. Unfortunately for Harris his second place didn't last long as he crashed out of contention at Mansfield corner. He did manage to restart and finish the race with tufts of grass adorning his black Honda.
