The first race of the 2026 BSB season went to Kyle Ryde, who worked back to the lead then pulled away for a first win on Ducati machinery.

The Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions racer continued his dominance at Oulton Park, having topped the test just before the season got underway, then leading on day one and taking pole position on Sunday after the team switched from Yamaha to Ducati for 2026.

From the top spot on the grid, the reigning double BSB champion did not get a good start dropping to fourth on lap one behind the competitive trio of Bradley Ray, Leon Haslam -who both had a spell in the out front - and Storm Stacey.

It only took until lap four for Ryde to retake the lead at turn one, with the number one plate pulling away into the distance, his fastest lap taking him to pole for the sprint on Monday and seeing him cruise over the line by a sizeable gap of 5.180s - easing down from a bigger advantage.

Moto Rapido Ducati’s Haslam tried to go with Ryde, as the rider who was out front when Ryde took over, but instead enjoyed a race long battle with Bradley Ray. The duo went on to complete to complete the podium with Ray the top Yamaha for McAMS in third.

Stacey was in close contention, but just missed out in fourth for Bathams AJN, now also a Ducati team.

Fifth went to PBM Ducati rider Scott Redding, who reeled in and passed the bimota of Max Cook at Hizzy’s on the last lap in the manufacturers first BSB race after a strong start which saw him in a breakaway lead six.

That gap was never quite recovered by Rory Skinner, who finished seventh for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha at a track heavily unfavoured by the Scottish rider,  holding off a rapidly approaching Ryan Vickers - the best Honda finisher, who was just 0.066s behind at the chequered flag.

Christian Iddon placed a solid ninth for Sencat Racing Yamaha, with Joe Talbot once again top rookie in his first race in his first full BSB season, setting a series of fast laps early in the race before dropping back slightly on the second AJN Steelstock bimota, with both bikes inside the top 10 in their team race debut.

Lee Jackson was a lonely 11th for Tag Honda.

Glenn Irwin was 24th on the grid after a series of bike issues on the second Nitrous entry, with his race weekend the absolute opposite of team-mate Ryde. The number 2 bike back cut through the field in chunks as Irwin fought back for a points finish in 12th, though issues still plagued his first race of 2026.

The remaining points on offer went to a trio of Honda riders - Josh Brookes took 13th for DAO Racing, Fraser Rogers 14th for TAG Honda and Jason O’Halloran 15th on his return to the championship with Honda UK.
