Collard in Wife Swap shock.

Once the dust has settled on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season this weekend at Silverstone, the BTCC paddock will be able to settle down to see Rob Collard in action on award winning TV show Wife Swap.

The Team RAC driver will feature on the show with wife Deborah and children Ricky and Jordan on Monday 16 October - when Deborah will swap roles with Jan Melia, a mother of three from Nottingham who has banned rules and routines in her home and admits to being a 'neighbour from hell'.

"We were approached by Channel 4 to see if we were interested in taking part in the programme," Collard said. "After some discussions we decided to go for it. It had plenty of testing moments for all of us, which you'll see on the show, but overall it was a good experience."

As for whether or not Collard would want to make the swap a permanent one?

"Definitely not," he added. "Let's just say I appreciate Deborah's high standards in the home and on a personal hygiene level! I think we've both taken something away from the show and it's given the boys an opportunity to open up a little more. We're certainly enjoying more arts, crafts and outdoors activities as a family. I take a bit of a gung-ho approach to life, particularly with Ricky and his karting, so it's nice to enjoy more activities at home that don't cost me anything!"

Before his appearance on the hit TV show, Collard will hope to end his BTCC campaign on a high after a season that has seen him have more than his fair share of bad luck in the Team RAC MG.

After an encouraging display last time out at Brands Hatch last time out, his confidence have been given a boost and he will look to go one step better than at Silverstone last season - when he powered the MG to a place on the second step of the podium.

"On a personal level I'd like to build upon the results from Brands Hatch and finish on the podium at Silverstone," he said. "The MG ran well on the short circuit last year and I achieved a second place. For Team RAC I'd like to assist Colin in gaining back his runner-up place in the championship."

Wife Swap airs at 9pm (UK time) on Channel 4 on Monday 16 October
