George to campaign ex-Neal Integra in '07.

JAG Communications has secured Matt Neal's 2006 British Touring Car Championship title-winning Honda Integra, which it has confirmed will be driven by company MD John George next year.

The Team Dynamics-run Integra carried Neal to a second successive BTCC drivers title, fending off the concerted assault from both SEAT and the VXR Racing Vauxhalls, but will not be eligible to run for the main prize in next year's revised touring car category, even if George will be able to chase the Independents' crown.

Although still permitted to run, the Integra and its rivals are to be superseded by the Super 2000 regulations currently in force in the WTCC, meaning that a few former frontrunners will be on the market this winter. While unable to repeat its 2005 form, in which it scored in every single round of the series, Neal's Integra proved to be one of the toughest cars of 2006, surviving numerous scrapes apparently unscathed to help carry Team Dynamics to the top of the team standings.

George, a former Clio Cup regular, has made several attempts to run in the BTCC, most notably with Mardi Gras Motorsport's gas-powered Honda Civics and Peugeot 406s, and is credited with being the first driver to introduce alternate fuels to the championship, a move followed this past season by Thurlby Motors, with Fiona Leggate, Kartworld Racing, Team RAC/WSR and Farecla, all of which ran bio-ethanol-powered cars.
