Defending four-time British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington draws level on points with championship leader Ash Sutton after taking a commanding race one victory at Snetterton.

The Team BMW driver led every lap from pole position to secure his fourth win of the season. Turkington was put under severe pressure from Tom Ingram during the opening lap of the race, but quickly found his rhythm once his BMW 330i M Sport machine gained tyre temperature.

Such was his pace at the head of the field, Turkington assembled near five-second lead before backing off during the final couple of laps.

Turkington's race winning bid was aided by Ingram and Jake Hill's heated battle for second position. That duel reached boiling on the seventh lap of the race when the pair made contact at Wilson hairpin.

MB Motorsport driver Hill made a strong lunge on the inside of Ingram's Toyota Corolla, but lost grip on the damp patch of the inside line and slid into the side of Ingram.

That exchange briefly moved Hill up into second position, but the Honda Civic Type-R driver handed the position back to Ingram a couple of corners later.

Motorbase Performance's Rory Butcher finished off the podium in fourth, while Laser Tool Racing's Sutton completed the top-five order in fifth after moving past Honda's Dan Cammish during the closing stages of the race.

Adam Morgan was seventh aboard his Ciceley Motorsport prepared Mercedes A-Class, while Josh Cook, Senna Proctor and Michael Crees completed the remainder of the top-ten positions in eighth, ninth and tenth.
