F1 Gossip: Ferrari links give Schumacher unfair advantage - Mazepin

In the latest F1 gossip column, Nikita Mazepin has taken a swipe at Haas teammate Mick Schumacher, while F1 is considering a return to Turkey if the Canadian Grand Prix is cancelled.

- Nikita Mazepin has taken a swipe at Haas Formula 1 teammate Mick Schumacher. 

In an interview with Russian broadcaster MatchTV, as quoted by Gazetta dello Sport, Mazepin says Schumacher's Ferrari Driver Academy membership gives him an unfair advantage as the German is able to drive the Scuderia's simulator, while Haas doesn't have one of its own that Mazepin can test in.

- As reported by RaceFans, F1 is considering another return to Istanbul Park for the Turkish Grand Prix should the Canadian Grand Prix be cancelled.

Recent media reports have suggested the race in Montreal will be called off amid a new wave of COVID-19 cases.

- RaceFans is also reporting F1's Sprint Qualifying format is expected to be given the green light from the F1 Commision today. 

- 1980 Formula 1 champion Alan Jones has criticised fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo for his slow start to the 2021 season.

Speaking on Peter Windsor's YouTube channel, he said: “I think Daniel should start concentrating a bit more in the cockpit rather than outside. In my opinion, Daniel is becoming a little preoccupied verbally with things going on outside the car rather than in it.”

Sebastian Vettel has called on F1 to up its environmental and sustainability efforts.

In an interview with F1 Insider, Vettel said: “My point is that there are ways to make the whole Formula One business much more environmentally friendly and sustainable, too. It’s not about doing without things, but making them better and acting more responsibly. That you can live sustainably and still pursue your passion. I think questioning yourself over and over again is the beginning of that.”
