Force India exile Gascoyne to 'work abroad in future'

Mike Gascoyne has revealed that after parting company with Force India F1 back in November, he will likely work abroad in future - as the Silverstone based-squad declined to comment on reports that its former chief technical officer has initiated legal proceedings against the team.

It was revealed in the Oxford Times that the man who has worked in a prominent technical capacity for Jordan, Benetton, Renault, Toyota, Spyker and latterly Force India over the course of an F1 career spanning almost two decades, has put his ?2.2 million country mansion in the small village of Alvescot near Bampton in West Oxfordshire on the market.

"I will probably work abroad in the future," the 45-year-old told the newspaper, "so will not need such a large home in the UK."

Gascoyne was dismissed by FIF1 chairman and managing director Vijay Mallya last November - a year before his three-year contract was due to expire - when the Kingfisher Airlines billionaire initiated a radical restructuring of the senior management hierarchy following the team's engine supply and technical support tie-up with McLaren-Mercedes.

The Englishman's Toyota agreement also came to a premature conclusion in 2006 - albeit by mutual consent - and when he joined Force India a year-and-a-half later, F1SA quotes him as having asserted: "I have said to Vijay, if at the end of next year we are still in last place, then I should already have been dismissed - and rightly so."

The Grade II Georgian property boasts three floors, seven bedrooms, a tennis court, swimming pool, a stables complex and extensive grounds of 8.95 hectares (22.11 acres).
