It now looks certain that the 1998 Portuguese Grand Prix to have been held at Estoril near Lisbon will now be cancelled due to the fact that the circuit alterations to have been completed by March 31st 1998 will not be completed in time.
The reserve races are still listed as Zhuhai in China and Kyalami in South Africa, it is thoughts that Kyalami at this stage is the favourite to take over the October 11th slot in the calendar, making a welcome return to Kyalami since the last Grand Prix held there in 1993.
