Barcelona Is Mika's Chance To Close.

The Spanish Grand Prix this weekend could be Mika Hakkinen's best chance to close the expanding gap between himself and title rival Michael Schumacher, according to the German.


Schumacher has admitted that he and Ferrari team-mate Eddie Irvine may struggle to stay with the two McLarens on Sunday, as the Barcelona circuit is known to favour the more aerodynamic cars. This much was borne out by pre-race testing at the Catalunya facility last week, where Hakkinen outpaced everyone, including Schumacher.

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn agrees that McLaren may have the advantage in Spain, but is confident that his drivers will be able to stay in touch elsewhere. Brawn is also aware that the Woking team is still suffering from reliability problems, however, as he watched both Hakkinen and team-mate David Coulthard struggle with problems during last week's test.
