Several test drivers got valuable mileage under their belts in the last week, with the most prominent - BAR's Patrick Lemarie and Benetton's Laurent Redon running alongside senior drivers at Magny-Cours. Elsewhere, Gaston Mazzacane finally got some seat time with Minardi at the Vairano proving ground in Italy.


Toyota has denied that it is about to enter a deal with Sauber for next season. The Japanese giant's motorsport arm Toyota Team Europe claims that the only contact between the two parties came when Sauber 'phoned the Japanese head office, with no calls in the opposite direction.
