Reynard Moved Upstairs After Criticism.

Race car designer Adrian Reynard has found himself removed from the firing line at British American Racing, following criticism from lead driver Jacques Villeneuve.

One of the founding members of the BAR outfit, Reynard was condemned by Villeneuve for not attending either races or tests. The Canadian felt that Reynard's input would be of value to the struggling team, and hit out at what he perceived to be a lack of commitment. Now Reynard has been made vice-chairman of the company - a position with no direct involvement in the team.

"I have my wife, five kids, other companies and Jacques Villeneuve," Reynard said, "I guess I prioritise them in that order - and [Jacques] didn't like that. I was surprised at being slagged off, though, as we're pretty close. It's unfortunate that his remarks didn't reflect well on me or the team."

Chief designer will take over from Reynard as technical director.
