Alex Yoong and Neuroweb's President Al-Ishsal launched the new look www.alexyoong.com website in a glitzy party amidst a big turn out of Malaysian media and celebrity guests at the All Stars Sports Caf? in Kuala Lumpur's Midvalley Megamall last night.
Loaded with new interactive features, www.alexyoong.com was developed by Neuroweb Sdn Bhd, a leading Web consulting and integration company, in collaboration with SITEFORUM AG, a developer of Web-based collaborative solutions.
The new site reflects the energy and dynamism of the Formula 1 world while maintaining the clean and fuss-free design of its predecessor. Besides allowing people from all over the world to keep abreast of Alex's development and answering the need for continuous flow of information on everything Alex, the website helps to build a kinship between Alex and his supporters.
"We are proud to be associated with Alex. He is very determined and has a lot of potential to be an achiever in this arena. With Alex' entrance into the Formula 1 league this year, we deem it fit that the website reflects that excitement as well," says President and CEO of Neuroweb, Al-Ishsal Ishsak.
Pleased with the "new look" website, Alex finds this announcement most timely and appropriate. "The second into the new year, it marks a new beginning and the new look and features aptly coincides with my first full Formula 1 season this year," adds the racing sensation.
And it's more than mere cosmetics changes. Visitors to the site can subscribe to a mailing list and receive e-mail alerts of the latest happenings. By signing up as a member of Alexyoong.com, they can participate in exclusive live conferences with Alex and engage in online discussions. This provides an avenue for supporters to exchange their views, share ideas and build a community along the way.
According to Alex, the discussion forum is for those who can't seem to get enough of motorsports. "And there will be more downloads, interactive features and video clips uploaded live regularly, from where the racing will be, whether during a race weekend or a promotional function," he says.
The website also allows visitors to register as a member of the Alex Yoong Supporters Club (AYSC). AYSC members get to enjoy special privileges and benefits, such as discount from participating AYSC merchants and on Alex Yoong merchandise, besides the exclusive opportunity to join Alex at his events. In addition, fans and supporters can now use the website to order a range of Alex Yoong merchandise.
"We believe the year 2002 will be a promising one although not without its challenges. But Alex and Neuroweb share the same competitive spirit and we are confident that we will ride the waves together and prevail at the end of the race," assures Al-Ishsal.
The new Alexyoong.com uses SITEFORUM's collaborative content management system. This pure Java-based application was chosen because it minimises web development time and is easy to customise, extend and integrate.
In conjunction with the launch a 15 seconds TV promo will be aired over TV3 Malaysia during the the first month of the new year.
Alex and the Racing for Malaysia project has been supported by MAGNUM, Malaysia Airlines, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, SITEFORUM, TAG Heuer, TV3 and Neuroweb since the past year.
