Four times World Champion Michael Schumacher and Manchester United star David Beckham could trade places later this year in a publicity stunt being organised by Vodafone.

Vodafone - the title sponsor of both the Ferrari F1 team and United - is hoping to swap the stars around for a day so that Schumacher gets an opportunity to train at Old Trafford and Beckham gets to drive a F2001 at Fiorano.

A spokesperson for Vodafone told British newspaper The Daily Mirror: "David and Michael are two of the world's best known sports stars, and it would be fantastic to give them a taste of each others careers."

"Our sponsorship with Ferrari started on January 1 and while we are delighted with the presence we have on the car we are always looking to maximise marketing opportunities in an interesting way."
