Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has decided to delay the race debut of its new F2003-GA machine, and so will enter last year's F2002 in the forthcoming San Marino Grand Prix.

Badoer continued development work on the new F2003-GA today at Fiorano, but the defending champions continue to encounter "running-in" problems with the new machine.

"We know that the F2002 is still very competitive, as demonstrated in the first three races of this season," stated Managing Director of the Gestione Sportiva, Jean Todt. "The F2003-GA (pictured) represents a step forward compared to the car which won the titles last year, but still has some 'running-in' problems. Our aim now, is to give it its race debut in the Spanish Grand Prix.

"There is no need to take unnecessary risks, especially as the F2002 is capable of winning. And that is exactly our aim and the spirit in which we prepare to race in front of our fans at Imola," added Todt.

Badoer today carried out a shakedown test of one of the three cars that will be used at Imola, at a wet Fiorano.

Ferrari are yet to win a race in 2003.
