BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya was quickest today [Tuesday], at the Paul Ricard circuit in the South of France.

JPM completed 89 laps in the FW25, his best a 1 minute 12.089 seconds, over five tenths up on his team-mate, test driver, Marc Gene.

Conditions at the French track though were far from ideal, and severe winds made testing difficult, as teams began preparations for the Monaco Grand Prix, in two weeks time.

Alexander Wurz was third for McLaren, he will debut the team's new car - the MP4-18 - tomorrow, while Olivier Panis was fourth for Toyota and Pedro de la Rosa, fifth, in the second MP4-17D.

Renault will join proceedings tomorrow [Wednesday], when testing resumes.
