McLaren Mercedes driver David Coulthard has joined his team-mates, Kimi Raikkonen and Alexander Wurz, in giving the new MP4-18, a glowing report following his first outing in the car this week at Barcelona.

Following the shakedown at Paul Ricard, prior to the Monaco Grand Prix, the Woking based team completed their first proper test at the Circuit de Catalunya yesterday [Friday], with both DC and Raikkonen on track during the four-day test.

Two MP4-18's were taken to the Spanish circuit and according to the official McLaren website the test went 'successfully', with both drivers notching up a 'comprehensive number of laps'.

DC, who joined Raikkonen on Thursday, told McLaren's website: "Obviously it was fantastic to be driving the MP4-18 for the first time. The team completed a positive programme and the car felt good."

McLaren also ran at Monza in Italy this week, test driver Pedro de la Rosa working with the MP4-17D, in preparation for next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

It is thought that the new car - the MP4-18 - will debut at the European Grand Prix, at the end of this month, although this is still subject to change.
