Jerez test - day one: 17 June.

Team McLaren-Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen was quickest today [Tuesday] at the Jerez, circuit in Spain.

Raikkonen completed 63 laps in total, his best a 1 minute 19.718 seconds, over half a second up on Marc Gene, who was next up in the Williams-BMW FW25.

Toyota's Cristiano da Matta was third, while McLaren test drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz completed the top five, fourth and fifth quickest respectively. Wurz completed only 14 laps though in the MP4-18, following an accident in the morning.

An official statement from McLaren noted: "As a matter of course Alex was taken to the medical centre at the circuit, but he has been released and is fine, having only suffered minor bruising.

"Initial feedback suggests the accident was not due to mechanical failure. The MP4-18 that Alex was driving has been severely damaged, however this will not affect the continued development of MP4-18 or its subsequent race introduction."

Testing continues tomorrow [Wednesday].
